FLOODSAX are to be featured at a high profile disaster conference in an American city devastated by floods.
They will be spotlighted at the International Disaster Conference & Expo in New Orleans from January 17 to 19, 2012. In August 2005 Hurricane Katrina led to 80% of the city being flooded in one of the worst natural disasters America has ever suffered. According to the Louisiana Department of Health the official death toll was 1,464.
One of the conference's main speakers will be Tom Ridge, the First Director of the Department of Homeland Security, who will speak on the evolution of emergency response in America since 9/11.
The IDCE2012 exhibition hall will feature more than 200 companies offering the latest in disaster industry technologies and techniques.
An exhibition spokesman said: “FloodSax® will show its sandless, self-inflating bags, a flood defence system that could revolutionise the control of damage from flooding.’’
The exhibition will bring together emergency management, homeland security and disaster industry professionals from the public and private sectors around the world to share lessons and forward thinking about the policies, procedures and best practices shaping disaster preparation, response and recovery, loss mitigation, business continuity and more.
Conference speakers, exhibitors and people attending will share the latest knowledge, technologies and techniques toward the common goal of minimising the loss of life and property in future catastrophic events.
The complete conference programme - including speakers and their topics - is listed in the 'conference' section of the IDCE2012 website, at http://www.internationaldisasterconference.com
