FLASH floods turned suburban streets into fast-flowing rivers in Australia this Christmas.
But one family managed to save a massive amount of destruction at their Melbourne home by deploying FloodSax®.
This dramatic video footage at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMd8L9dkNSM shows the moment Christmas was wrecked by a flash flood which overpowered drains and meant people only had minutes to respond to rapidly rising floodwater in the Melbourne suburb of Moonee Ponds.
A FloodSax® spokesman said: “Luckily the family had a supply of FloodSax® on hand as they had no time to call for assistance. Old drainage systems were unable to cope with the extreme deluge, turning streets into rivers and streams in a matter of minutes.
“The entire family assisted in building a wall of FloodSax® by using the floodwater itself to 'energise' each bag.
“What happened in Melbourne is a graphic reminder that flash flooding can happen anywhere at anytime and most people are just not prepared. Flooding happens in minutes and there is just no time to get help.’’
